All that Jazz!!

Get ready... It's coming....and it's FREE!!

Fort Smith is an area of entertainment. Admit it... if we're going to eat, we want it to be delectable. If we go to the movies, we want to be dazzled. If we go to a party, we want it classy.  And if we listen to music, we don't want to just listen to it... we want to savor it.

A few like-minded individuals got together to make this happen. We definitely have our specialites in the enjoyment of music.  The Fort Smith Symphony invokes our tears. The Blues Fest compels us to let loose and enjoy a friendly atmosphere.  Downtown Fort Smith caters to our need for live music on a regular basis, be it through community functions, concerts, or even just a Saturday night in a smooth lounge while we share some drinks with friends on an evening out.

And now, it's the season for Jazz.

We've moved the event to the beauty of historic Downtown, Ross Pendergraft Park.  Corporate and private sponsors alike have all come together to make this an all new festival for the community. Picture it, a complete afternoon/evening of good music, good food, and good atmosphere.  Listen to the captivating tones, go for drinks at any one of the local restaurants, or even catch a quick bite from an on-site vendor.

We'll have local favorites from Channel 5 News, quick interviews with the bands, and one lucky attendee will even win a free guitar!

So go ahead... write it on your calendar. Bring the kids. Make a day of it! After all, this is Fort Smith. If we're going to do jazz, we know to do it funky.

So who's playing?...

1:00 – 1:30: Northside High School

I'm in high anticipation for this year's Fort Smith Jazz Fest. Our band doesn't play too many festivals so this will be a treat! Playing the same stage with the level of talent that it looks like will be at the event is definitely humbling. We hope to bring a four to five piece group to the festival. We hope to see lots of folks there!

I am extremely excited to have the opportunity to play at the Ft. Smith Jazz Fest. Ever since I went to the Jazz Fest some 6 years ago, I have wanted to play there. Living in the Ft. Smith area, being so close to the festival site, it will be one of the more memorable gigs I have played. There is so much talent in this area, it is truly an honor to play this festival.

In my opinion, Ft. Smith would do well to have more family music festivals like the Fort Smith Jazz Fest.
